Peter Pane continues to stand by his fundamental support for the European Broiler Initiative. Our goal remains to implement the Broiler Initiative by 2030, thereby strengthening animal welfare throughout the entire supply chain and promoting sustainable standards in poultry production. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Our path so far and current challenges<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

For several years now, we have been working to transition our chicken meat supply chain to meet the requirements of the European Broiler Initiative. Early on, we launched a product development process with a producer that was modeled after the initiative\u2019s standards. Our goal is to implement animal welfare measures not just in the short term, but permanently and with consistent quality. Since no scalable solution emerged from this approach, we decided as early as spring 2025 to realign our partnerships in order to place the transition on a more sustainable footing. <\/span><\/p>

At the same time, we are operating in a market environment that is becoming increasingly complex due to global developments. Geopolitical tensions and supply bottlenecks – for example due to changes in export conditions or limited availability of raw materials – are having a noticeable impact on European market supply. As a medium-sized company, these dynamics require a high degree of adaptability and careful consideration from us, particularly with regard to security of supply and economically viable animal welfare measures. We remain committed to our goals and are implementing them step by step\u2014even if the current circumstances are dictating the pace.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Through our partnership, we have laid the groundwork for gradually developing sustainable solutions that are consistent with the principles of the Broiler Chicken Initiative. We are already implementing key standards in this regard. <\/span><\/p>

Our suppliers comply with Regulation (EC) No. 1099\/2009 on the stunning of animals. Despite our transition to halal-certified meat, we receive confirmation from our manufacturers that the slaughter is carried out under controlled conditions and in compliance with ECC standards. <\/span><\/p>

As part of our due diligence obligations under the Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (LkSG), we continuously analyze the risks in our supply chain and work toward continuous improvement. For example, we have already implemented measures to ensure humane stunning methods and to improve animal housing conditions. <\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
