Peter Pane continues to stand by its fundamental support for the European Broiler Chicken Initiative. Our goal remains to strengthen animal welfare along the entire supply chain and to promote sustainable standards in poultry production <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Our path so far and current challenges<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

For several years now, we have been working on converting our chicken supply chain to the requirements of the European Broiler Chicken Initiative. In this context, we started a product development process with a producer at an early stage, which was based on the initiative’s standards. Unfortunately, despite intensive collaboration, we have not yet been able to achieve a scalable solution and therefore decided to realign our partnerships in spring 2025. <\/p>

At the same time, we are operating in a market environment that is becoming increasingly complex due to global developments. Geopolitical tensions and supply bottlenecks – for example due to changes in export conditions or limited availability of raw materials – are having a noticeable impact on European market supply. As a medium-sized company, these dynamics require a high degree of adaptability and careful consideration from us, particularly with regard to security of supply and economically viable animal welfare measures. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Despite these conditions, we are not losing sight of our goal. Our new partnership with an alternative production partner opens up new potential for us to develop viable solutions in the medium term that are compatible with the principles of the broiler chicken initiative. <\/p>

Our suppliers consistently implement Regulation (EC) No. 1099\/2009 on the stunning of animals. The current stocking density in the rearing facilities is 33 kg\/m\u00b2 and will be further reduced by 2026.
This will enable us to completely eliminate cage farming at our producers’ suppliers in future. <\/p>

As part of our due diligence obligations under the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (LkSG), we continuously analyze the risks in our supply chain and work on continuous improvements. For example, we have already implemented measures to reduce the stocking density and ensure animal welfare-friendly stunning methods. <\/p>

At Peter Pane, pleasure meets conscience: The diverse selection of vegetarian and vegan products is not only delicious, but also sets a strong example for animal welfare and environmental protection. With every plant-based dish, the company makes an active contribution to a more sustainable future – and shows how delicious responsibility can taste. Our guests also appreciate this, which is why we have expanded our range to be increasingly plant-based and 59% of our dishes are now vegan-vegetarian. As a company with responsibility for people, animals and the environment, we remain committed to working with all stakeholders to create sustainable solutions for greater animal welfare. <\/p>
